I think that Cash for Clunkers was s**t. I think it was pointless and did not help our economy at all. It cost too many tax dollars. Tax dollars we could have used somewhere else, in a needed area. It could have went to the elderly since they are cutting social security and not giving them raises next year.
Cash for Clunkers just put us further in debt for something stupid. It was one of the worst ideas Obama has had so far. Well, not the worst, but it was a very big bad idea. Obama has done worse since he has been in office, clearly.

It was a pain in the keister for car dealerships. They get the privilege of holding on to all these clunkers, and they're not being paid by the government yet, despite handing out a lot of newer models.

It was a waste. Some money was spend on a few people who qualified. I don't get why it was ultimately done. Sure, I get that some improved gas mileage cars were sold and it might help our ailing auto industry. But, what I see is a waste. There are some people who need to buy older running vehicles as that is all they can afford and these clunkers are being crushed. A total waste.
I could see the program and then maybe giving the cars to people who need them so they can get jobs and get to work. That would make sense.
But, nothing the Obama administration has done has made sense to me so far.
He spends $35,000 for one week's vacation rental while people are unemployed and losing their homes all over America. I'm so tired of his elitist behavior. He should be setting an example and instead he is flaunting. Sickening.

I only hope the new health care is handled better, cash for clunkers turned out to be the best stimulus so far and the government under funded it and is now shutting it down.......must be the other 3 trillion is meant for policies that don't actually stimulate anything

An absolute miserable failure and didn't accomplish the goal of the program. And if the govt can't run a program this simple, how in the world does anyone believe they could run something as complicated as healthcare?

The fetish of the State, supreme expression of the commodity and capital fetishism, creates illusions to the capitalists themselves. For them the State, an expression of social relation, is transformed into a thing or a supreme power able to absorb all the debts and sustain all the capitals in bankruptcy: the bankruptcy of the State (the liquidation of public credit, the default of the public debt, the sinking of the monetary system, the disruption of all inter-state relations) is now in progress as a condensation of the crisis. For the working humanity, the crisis put objectively the question of the State i. e. the question of political power itself.

Helped lots of people with money get a good deal on a car. Not sure it helped the dealerships or anyone who is really in need of a new car.

Let me preface this by saying I'm a Republican... (However, I don't ALWAYS agree with Republicans and ALWAYS go against Democrats, like most people in Washington)...
... with that being said, I think it was a great idea. Getting old crappy cars off the road? I'm all for it!
I don't really watch the news, so I don't really know the numbers (if it's a success or not), but I do think it was a bon idee.
