What if we started TV commercials to prevent school violence? Remember the commercial "this is your brain on drugs" with the frying egg?
When these school shootings occur there is hate, anger and hopelessness that grips these kids. It bothers me so much. This society trend is horrible and it seems like every few weeks there is yet another horrific scene. The shooters see nothing beyond their high school teen environment. No future. They seem to be caught up in this horror. The kid bullied in HS might be a big success when they escape that petty bullying world. They might blur reality from fiction if they are playing violent video games or something?
I can't say what it is, but please share what you might say if you had 60 seconds to speak to a kid/person who feels they have no life ahead of them and hate so much?
Are we missing a valuable way to prevent this continued plague upon our schools and other public places by not addressing the problem in a format kids see?
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture3 years agoIf you watch this interview with Paula Jones, how would this be reacted to nowadays?

With all the sexual harassment things nowadays what would today's reaction be to this interview vs. when it was done in 1994.
4 AnswersCurrent Events3 years agoWhat is it with all the sex accusations of politicians and others?
Not a day goes by lately without yet another person going under scrutiny for sex related assaults and stuff like that.
I am wondering why all these people, if accusations are true, chose not to come forward originally? Is it now "cool" to accuse people? Could some of these things be lies to discredit? What is your take on this? Do you personally believe every single accuser?
8 AnswersLaw & Ethics3 years agoAre violent video games and movies part of our society's sickness?
We see mass killings pretty often and I'm not talking about terrorists, these are our own "home grown" people.
Do you feel that exposure to these things might drive some people away from reality and place them into a scenario where they are playing a part?
How much of this kind of stuff is healthy?
If you are a parent, do you allow your kids to see these movies or play games like this? At what age?
4 AnswersOther - Society & Culture3 years agoFor your political news, who do you believe?
A great deal of info is flying around right now about "fake news" and I truly believe that the media twists truth or blatantly leaves out certain aspects of a story in order to imply various things. Some stories that we ought to hear are conveniently left off or reported on so minimally that people don't get to know.
I'm tried of being lied to, and I certainly want truth and to think for myself.
So, do you believe any one or any station/website more than others? Who is the most truthful in your eyes?
11 AnswersMedia & Journalism4 years agoWhen being gluten free is so much more common, nowadays, what do you think restaurants should be offering?
As a GF person, I think of how easy it would be to offer a few more things, yet most restaurants are inconsiderate.
I'm tired of salads, not being able to have bread/rolls, and nothing for dessert. I am so grateful for the places that put in the extra effort. Simply buying the GF bread/rolls and keeping it in the freezer and microwaving or a minute or two in an already hot oven works for me. Keeping GF pasta on hand and just one simple pot to cook it in is not that hard. I cook for people in my family and for myself side by side all the time. We handle is easily. I get annoyed when there are hardly any choices, especially in a nice place that ought to take the time.

7 AnswersMagazines4 years agoWhat are some good random acts of kindness?
After a weekend when we all witness hate groups fighting and causing mayhem, death and whatever, wouldn't it be a nice thing to go out in the world and practice a few random acts of kindness? I won't be asking people who they voted for and I won't be regarding what race they are, will you?
4 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups4 years agoWhat is impeachment actually? Do people who demand it (now and in the past) actually understand what happens?
I heard about a town in MA on the news where they are signing a petition to impeach Trump. I don't even truly understand what grounds they are using, other than they hate him. The disclaimer at the end of the news story was that it was symbolic and non-binding.
So, why bother? I guess it gives them some satisfaction to vent their anger?
At any rate, impeachment requires certain grounds and I learned back in the days when Bill Clinton was impeached that it didn't mean he was kicked out of office. That was surprising to me at the time. It was a slap on the wrist and he went on being president after lying to congress and whatnot.
It is laughable to think that we have this process that does virtually nothing, or does it? Every time a president is hated by the other side of the isle (happens all the time, at least in my adult life) they demand impeachment. Republicans demanded it of Obama as well. Let's examine the process and what it resolves... what do you think?
When Clinton was impeached, he stayed, I was confused.
My question is not if you approve/dissaprove or want to impeach, but about the process. I am finding the demands for impeachment here laughable as it seems to waste lots of time and money (our taxpayer dollars) and gets nothing as a result.
8 AnswersPolitics4 years agoWhat do you truly think of the trend for restaurants to have TVs all over the walls?
Personally, I'm somewhat offended by this. I go out to eat to get away from the world for a little bit and prefer a pleasant atmosphere. I'm not thinking about a sports bar here where TVs are part of the experience, that is different.
5 AnswersPolls & Surveys4 years agoDo you think kids turn to drugs due to not knowing how to entertain themselves?
I have a theory myself about today's society and drug use and I wonder if anyone else has thought the way I think about it. I'd like to know your thoughts.
4 AnswersPolls & Surveys4 years agoWhat do you think could truly help educate our kids best?
I'm thinking of gangs, drugs, and things that seem like a disease in our society.
What do you think would make a difference?
3 AnswersPolls & Surveys4 years agoWhat is the newest politically "correct" thing?
I find it interesting that various things come and go in our society. Political correctness has amazed me. I often find out that what I say or do is not OK nowadays and I am shocked to be corrected. I try hard not to be offensive and live my life without prejudices. I'm human and not perfect, though. I'd like to hear the current things that are not OK to do or say if you care to advise. What is it that offends people that didn't even 5 years ago?
9 AnswersPolitics4 years agoWhat are some intelligent ways to point out to elderly parents that it is time they moved to a safer and easier to handle location?
My in-laws are "failing" and it is very sad to see this happen to brilliant and dynamic people. It seems that they are in the EMR or hospital, on average, about every 3 weeks lately. They live in a remote home.
It is time they find a smaller place that is in a more accessible area or just simply hire help. Unfortunately, their kids do not live near them. What can convince "stubborn" folks? I'm truly worried and while they have their faculties about them, this lifestyle is not making any sense......I think they are in denial about how bad things have become. This is so hard.
