Depends, w/ my mom you couldn't hide anything from her. She always found out and she would tell us " Don't hide anything from me, I may not find out about it today, tomorrow or even 10 yrs from now but I WILL find out." Ha Ha and she was right, she always found out.

I'm 26 and married and just got my first and probably only tattoo last week (a piece of scripture on my lower back). I'll probably never show it to my parents because they would never approve, but if it does show up accidently then I'm happy with that because the tattoo means so much to me that I'm proud of having it whether my parents agree or not. It took me three years to decide upon this tattoo thinking about whether or not I'll regret it 30, 40 years down the line, so make sure you really want this, not only for now but for years down the line when you're married and with kids. If so, then go for it whole-heartedly...

They won't pierce or tattoo anyone under the age of 18 without a parent or guardian. So, yes you can get one. Why hide a tattoo from your parents? You are old enough to make your own decisions and if that is something you want, then talk to them about it because if you don't, it will just make them mad.

It really depends on how involved your parents are with your life, and where you want the tattoo. Don't put it somewhere just so your parents can't see it, if it's not where you want it.
I had my ears gauged to 3/4" for a year before my mom noticed. My dad noticed that I had just gotten a tattoo a day I got it because of the little bit of red skin that was showing.

Yep. I've got eighty-five hours of ink already, they won't notice a little more. (he he!) But, almost all parents hate tatoos. Mine did too, till I started making a living at it. Now, they're interested in the art. But that took a while for it to go that direction. (It's easier to get forgivness, than permission. Which is as it SHOULD be!) Take care, and enjoy your ink!

When my sister was 16 she got a rather large tattoo on her belly that said "freaky behavior" in script! My mother still doesn't know about it and my sister is in her late 20's now. So you can get away with it but can you live with it? Me, personally, I can't lie to my parents and hiding a tattoo would feel like a lie. If you really want the tattoo, get it but tell your mom so she doesn't find out about it from someone else or one day in public and freaks out.

Yes, you have to be at least 18 to get a tattoo by yourself with no parent permission. So you could totally get away with it if you're careful about hiding it (though I'd recommend telling your parents some time soon after!) :)

Legally you can get a tattoo, but hiding it from them may be difficult if it is in an obvious place. I got a tattoo on my shoulderblade and successfully hid it for a couple months before just outright telling my mom. I think ultimately you should just tell them, because they will just chalk it up to you being young and foolish. My mom didn't flip her ****, but she definitely was none too pleased.

Yeah you could get away with it as long as you take care of it and avoid infections to where you would have no choice but to get some medical assistance. but you are 18 so you shouldn't have to sneak around trying to get a tattoo!

Your parents can't stop you. You are considered a legal adult at 18. I wouldn't try to hide it from them, though. They will eventually find out about it and more than likely be more angry that you didn't tell them.

Well, part of getting the tattoo is rebellion. Get your tattoo wherever you want. Get in trouble. The worst that could happen is they throw you out of the house, but that probably won't happen. Be cool.
Or you could just wait till you are out of the house. But it is your body. Get it where you want.
