can you refuse to go public if you win the lotto?

considering all the blackmail and harm that could come your way if you were to win a large amount of money can you choose to lay low?

    Actually, no you can't. They are in no way legally obligated to not release your name for any reason just because you ask them.

    What you can do, is hire a lawyer to turn in the ticket for you. Many people who've won the super huge lotteries have done this.

    i'm pretty sure you can. just tell the state lottery dept if you win that you do not want it to be in the media. you have the right to do so
