Can you recommend a biography/autobiography suitable for a 10-yr old boy?

My son's homework for the summer holidays is to read a biography or an autobiography.

I haven't yet found one that would interest him. He's not into football, which is my biggest problem!

Any ideas?

Indian Boyhood by Charles A. Eastman. Published in 1902, it's Eastman's story of his Native American childhood in the 1860s. Maybe your son will like Indians.

Boy by Roald Dahl - if he can take some quite unpleasant scenes, but then you know what Dahl's fiction is like for that.

Bit young for the Diary Of Anne Frank? (Would impress the teachers!)

You don't say what does interest him - but one suggestion would be "All Creatures Great and Small" by James Herriott as it is an autobiography and also very funny.
