Why is there so many complaints over the Dallas cowboys Video Board?
After all there are problems with every field. How about it being cold so much in Greenbay and other northern outside stadiums that they should have to get a dome after all how many interceptions and fumbles happen on those fields in the winter time? Or put an umbrella in Seattle because it rains so much, or my favorite plant some seeds in the middle of Raiders field so nobody gets injured on the dirt which really mess’s up the kicks and snaps and could injure players when tackled. The point is that it seems as always that most are pretty jealous of the new stadium and that is why they make such a big deal about it. Jerry Jones went 5 feet above the regulated height so why should it be his fault in the first place. Kickers should just have to deal with it as other teams deal with problems of the other stadiums.
Thanks for the replies. My biggest problem is that there are issues with all stadiums that could be corrected but no one complains about them. If you notice and do research the cowboys punter has yet to hit the board in practice or in game because he knows its there and adjusts his kicks. Just like a snapper has to adjust his snaps in oakland. The stadium was built to code and the screen was built to sit at that height.

Anything questionable in Dallas and the media is swarming.. you know that.
And any ammunition for Cowboy haters and they frothing at the mouth.
Jerry Jones built this to NFL REGULATIONS. So if you are going to blame someone, blame the NFL. They allowed him to build it to this height and get away with it.

Then the code needs to change, its ridiculous that he wants the NFL to work around HIS design, thats not right, change the game because one owner had his head up his butt? No one is hateing on the cowboys, frankly noone cares where the problem is but the fact that it is a problem and just so happens that its in Dallas, id be asying the same thing if the Ravens were mistaken enough to put in a scoreboard that that forced people to alter the way teams play. Just move it higher or out of the way and the NFL wont have to make stupid rules concerning one teams scoreboard, i dont see the argument here? Rain cant be stopped, snow cant be stopped and Oakland is forced to share a stadium, cant help any of that, but moving a scoreboard can be done and if Jones keeps it the NFL could even consider decomissioning or not recognizing the Dallas Cowboys in the league, really, why risk one of the NFLs greatest franchises for a scoreboard, they arnt asking them to tear it down just move it.

Football should be played in the elements- it's been that way since the very first game ever. That's part of what gave teams home-field advantage... a team from, say, Miami would have a hard time preparing to play in GB... but it'd work in reverse, as well. Domes were created to be fan-friendly... which would increase revenue (more people, more concessions sold, etc.)
It's not so much a jealousy thing as it being that the scoreboard is too big. It interferes with punts. Can you imagine how old it would get if after every punt there had to be a do-over because it hit the screen? That'd get real old, real quick. Their own punter thinks the board is too low.
Jerry Jones thinks it's OK, because not every punt is supposed to go straight down the middle... apparently, all punts should be line-drives that go out of bounds. While that is partially true, it's also true that the straight, high-hanging punt is another viable strategy... one that he is trying to eliminate.
It's nice to have the big screen- he has the right to own one. Just be smarter in your designs.

all of the things you mention have to do with temperature, wind, or precipitation (except the dirt but oakland chooses to play on a shared sports field). the problem with the video boards is that they interfere with play and they were put there knowingly by the team owner. You cant control weather and such but you can control where you put video screens above the field. 1. what is the point of putting screens above the field? why not just put them on the sidelines/endzones like everywhere else and it's not a problem. 2. They might as well get moved up because apparently they will be for a U2 concert coming up. 3. jerry jones knew this would happen and the media would jump all over his new stadium so i guess props to him for drawing attention to himself/his team some more but seriously just raise the screens out of the way so there's no chance they get hit.

It's a matter of the "green monster" in the stadium. Everywhere else you go, the problems you refer to, are natural problems. Players don't cry about rain, snow, or wind. It's football. But to have a problem such as a big screen that easily gets in the way of kicks and punts, could have been easily avoided. I hear they are raising it but it will cost 2 million to do so. But until then you just have to ask "What in the hell was the architect thinking?" Yes the screen was built to sit at that height, but it was built at the wrong height...... and by the way, players enjoy playing in Lambeau Field.

Because it's fixable, and Mr Jones insists the problem is with the bad behavior of the punter. Mr Jones believes that a "good" punter will always angle his punts away from the video board.
I haven't heard any comment about whether the board is a distraction for the return man trying to catch the punt. I can just hear the special teams coaches preparing to play in Cowboys Stadium, "kick it as close to the video board as you can without hitting it and maybe their guy will mishandle the punt."
I also haven't heard if this video board is as big as Rhode Island or Delaware.

Its just a fact that this gives an advantage to the cowboys because they'll figure out a way to avoid the scoreboard while other teams will either forget or hit it inadvertently. Yea it will run out the clock and is a way to stall more time or waste it depending on who you ask. But yea the NFL would have to change regulations if it will go even the slightest bit higher.

Well, the others are things caused by nature (the snow, the rain, etc.), but the thing that worries many people is not that the punts are going to be blocked, but that kickers can now run out the clock by kicking at the scoreboard, because redos do not stop the clock, it just keeps on going. And yeah, it's not his fault, but they should try moving it up somewhat higher.

Because kickers don't have to worry about hitting the scoreboard in any other stadium. There is a big difference in having to play in the rain in seattle and worrying about hitting the scoreboard in dallas. And for 1.6 Billion, you would think they would have put MORE thought into that.

I agree. Everyone finds an excuse to hate on the Cowboys. I am glad Jerry is standing up for his screen. He obeyed the regulations and should not have to move it. These people are making a big deal over nothing.
