The best way to get lost animals to show up is to leave farmville up for a little while after you plow, take care of your animals or whatever...then just sit idle for a bit. A cow or sheep will wonder around onto your farm. It never fails.

You can adopt a lost animals as long as some of your friends that using farmville application can see a lost sheep in their farm and they will post it on the homepage. As long as there's nobody adopt the lost animals you can adopt as long as you can early. So, better to see your home in order to see the new post of your friend. It is not dependable on how many neighbor you have. It is how eager you to adopt the lost animals.

Sometimes your friends find Black sheep randomly and then allow other people to adopt them. When you are on farmville at the bottom of the window you will see all of your neighbours. If you click on any of them you can select to go to there farm. then you click on the camera icon near above the plowing and market tool and take a picture.

Hope this helps! have fun farming :D
