Imagine 50 years ago when we had the civil rights movements, that i could bet you that not one caucasian married hetero couple in Georgia suffered in the LEAST from an interracial couple marrying in California.

DOMA supporters please consider reality and the fact that you are shooting yourselves in the foot when you don't even realize that your own friends, family and children could be gay... but they will never tell you for fear of retribution (just ask my parents). Too many people have committed suicide over this and its NOT FAIR. I believe that if you do not teach your children acceptance, that you are a bad parent.

Personally speaking I would love for everyone to begin observing that the laws of the United States created a separation between church and state and since the state issues a "marriage" license that none of the equations are anything more than a domestic union or partnership, since according to the law, divorce is the matter of a civil court and not the church.

Therefore everyone can fight for something more important like the environment, health care, hunger, children's rights, stopping abuse and work together.

The Bible in it's 3 original languages never mentions homosexuality. It did not enter the text until 1863.

Get a clue the Bible is not a science book- men were called to act in faith and follow the example of the Bible. Jesus fulfilled the law and there is one thing in scripture that He mentioned would damn a person from heaven.

With interracial marriage, there is a male and a female present. A mother and a father. One of each sex. We are all human beings, just that different races have different skin colors and possibly several other differing traits. Either way there's still a male and a female present in the relationship. What's wrong with a little diversity?

With gay "marriage" there are either two males or two females present. There's an unbalance.

Think of it this way: say you're installing a new sink. The water supply line from the wall is a 1/4 inch diameter white PVC pipe with male threading. But the intake pipe on the sink is a 1/4 inch diameter copper pipe with female threading. You can still connect the sink to the water supply and it works, even though the pipes are made of different materials.

Now let's assume that the sink faucet's intake pipe was instead of the copper pipe, also a 1/4 inch diameter white male-threaded PVC pipe. Try connecting it to the water supply! Won't work.

People are absolutely free to substitute the bible for logic and objective thought, and to use it in place of personal reasoning, they are NOT, in the United States of America, free to use it to enforce public policies that restrict my civil rights. The same First Amendment that allows them to practice their religion prevents them from imposing their beliefs on me.

Allowing gay marriage is NOT forcing my beliefs on them. It is circumscribing the boundaries of their 'free exercise' rights precisely where they butt up against my rights to be treated equally under the law.

That's not necessarily fair that you're not allowing people to use the Bible as their reference. I'm not against same sex marriage, but you need to keep in mind that people use the Bible as a way to life and agree with the morals that it teaches. The words of the Bible have becomes their personal reasoning.

they have to defend their opinions because their system is falling, and that scares them. it scares them because they are loosing power. they used to oppose interacial marriages too but they lost, they used to consider women inferior to men but they lost too. This is another one they are loosing. It is just a matter of time. We can never go back to the dark ages, they will just have to evolve.
