Weird bump on my breast?
I've got a weird bump forming near the back of my left breast, and it hurts to touch. I'm afraid of what it could be but don't want to jump to conclusions that it could be a tumor. The skin is very red and very sensitive, even my arm against it hurts terribly Help!
I'll make an appointment. I've got a history of cancer in my family, not breast cancer specifically but I'm not going to test it. I'm just wondering if it couldn't be anything else.

You don't say how old you are but if there is a family history, you need to have it looked at and probably get a mammogram and/or an ultrasound.
Breast cancer can strike at any age, especially if there is a family history. I had a lump in my breast when I was 19. It was benign and it was removed but it was scary and a real eye-opener. I get yearly mammograms (I'm 40 now). See your doctor ASAP. It might be nothing but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Remember Geralyn Lucas of "Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy"? She was diagnosed at age 27.

I agree with everybody else when they say you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. It could be many things other than cancer. One thing I wouldn't count out is mastitis. That is a bacterial infection that can cause swelling with pain in one are of the breast. If not treated with antibiotics it can spread to your whole breast. It could also be a clogged duct. Go to your doctor and find out for sure.

Just from my personal experience, I had breast cancer and am a survivor. My lump did not hurt at all. This sounds like a mastitis, which is a gland that gets inflamed, and is probably nothing to worry about, but PLEASE go and get checked out, because when they say early detection is so important, they are not kidding. Cancer spreads and can kill, so if it were cancer, you could get it treated early like I did and live.

It sounds more like an infection than anything else. Since it is red and sensitive those are huge signs of an infection. Most likely you need to be on an antibiotic! Yep, time to see a dr!
