Why are many people so fixated on proving their is or is not a God?

Oh I'm dreadfully sorry.

As my question is so illegible, I'll re write it.

Why are so many people so fixated on proving there is or is not a God?

Update:

If the theist general belief is correct, then we'll only find out when we die. Why is it so important to understand, when we can't possibly?

They are so fixated on proving God because every one wants to know if they should take life seriously.

For some people religion is everything to them. It dictates who your friends are, what type of work you can do, what clothes you should wear. That's a large part of your life that you are controlling through religion. So for many people it is important to know if their god is real cos' if not they would have placed all of those restrictions upon themselves for nothing. So even though they believe in god, they still have to prove that he/she exists. Maybe even to still the doubts within themselves.

For atheists. It would just prove to them that all of these religious people, were believing in nothing but absolute rubbish. You have to remember that a lot of wars have been caused by religion. It dictates who a person is, depending on how extreme their beliefs are.

Take a look at what is happening in various nations, but especially the US. Notice the number of political issues that are complicated or influenced because of religious beliefs. Look at the education systems where a constant battle goes on to teach solid science rather than mythology. Read the news articles about parents allowing their children to die because of their beliefs.

    These are a few reasons...

I think some people want to believe there is something more to their life- an ultimate purpose for their existence, because they can't cope with the possible idea that we live for no real reason. (which I think is fair enough, having a God may give them something to live for)

Not to mention that to a lot of people, the idea of death is terrifying- that we have no idea what happens to us when we die.

It's all theory, but unknown and as of yet unprovable.

So I think people NEED to understand whether there is a God or not because religion is hugely based upon how you live your life impacting what happens to you after death...

Maybe it's just human nature to want to know everything....?

For many people who believe in God, there is also a belief in heaven & hell. They believe that the only way to get into heaven, and thus not burn in hell for eternity, is to believe in/worship God, and they feel that it is their mission to tell others about it and convince others to believe so that they can have eternal life in heaven as well. For those who don't believe in God, it's a yearning to pull the believers out of their "ignorance & naivety." I think both stances have their hearts in the right place, but I also think that they mostly go about it all wrong.

Maybe we can't prove anything with 100% certainty, but we can still make logical conclusions based on the best facts we have at the time. And why not? This is an interesting subject that all of us have opinions on, so why not discuss it and debate it?

It's there not their. If you can't prove that there is a god, then all the rest about what happens after you die is pure fantasy and speculation. I can make up anything I want to about what happens to people after you die and you can never prove that I am wrong. How stupid is that? What a waste of time.

Because if you wait till you die to believe, you would have lost your chance to believe in the right one and you will suffer the consequences.

because this category would be empty and collecting dust if there was nothing to argue about

there would be nothing to give a thumbs down to, there would be nothing to behead people over in certain parts of the world, there would be no slogans to stamp onto money, etc

When you find out after you died that there is a God and you never accepted His son Jesus and were never Born Again, where you will be finding this out is here......

Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Life is not a game on a computer where if you died, you just start the game over. When life for you is over..... it's over. So you need to make the necessary preparations for where you want to spend your eternity..

    With God or with satan.
