What would cause a vehicle to shake when applying the brakes?

I drive a 2004 Buick Rendezvous. This past week, I noticed that when I apply the brakes, my steering wheel begins to vibrate, for lack of a better word, a bit. If I apply the brake hard - there is no problem but when I slow for a stop light it happens.

The majority of the time, it's front brake rotors that are out of round.

Have the brakes looked at by a reputable mechanic as soon as you

are ready to make the repair commitment.

    Good Luck to you.

Brake rotor thickness variations or rust spots etched into the rotors. Even a tire that is going bad will cause that shake. sometimes called Judder side to side steering wheel motion. Hopefully your car also needs other brake repair like new pads. If the rotors have already been machined to minimum thickness you will need to replace those as well. When machining rotors if they are done with a on car brake lathe your more likely to get a true cut. Better get it looked over at your favorite brake shop or dealership.

first ingredient could be brake rotors..... here a attempt to provide help to already know approximately undesirable wheels or tire.... placed vehicle in force enable it roll no gas what you sense on your arms or butt would be a bad tire or wheel.... now velocity as much as above 40 5 mph now what you sense is stability... that can come style the tires or the force practice... yet whilst your using the brake and you sense a shake then better than likey its a brake rotor they warp from warmth and over the years.. so superb you have the brakes verify or do a brake interest your self

As everyone said, brake rotors. I just thought I'd add that on your car new rotors are not terribly expensive and they're also easy to replace compared to some other cars. "Turning" them is a temporary solution in my experience. It makes the rotors thinner so after a little while you end up with the same problem. I recommend just replacing the rotors. No need to go fancy, just the standard rotors will do nicely. Might as well get some pads while you're at it.

I just had this problem, got my rotors done and it's gone. Have a brake shop take a look at them, as well as the brake pads. That's probably the problem.

It is your front brake rotors, buy new rotors from Auto Zone and put new brake pads on, this will correct your problem.

That's a symptom of a warped brake rotor.

You will likely have either bad upper and or lower ball joints or a bent rotor or two.If you feel the shake in the steering the problem is in the front. If you feel the shake in the seat, the trouble is in the rear.

Your front brake rotors are warped, not unusual, and can be turned by one of your auto part stores if they have the capability to turn them. You can also turn your vehicle in for repair.
