Need Evergreen Trees Suggestions (Tall, Thin & Fast Growing)?

Hi,

I need some suggestions. Looking for thin diameter and fast growing evergreens that will grow nice and tall for a privacy screen from neighbor's garden. Need something that at least goes to 12 - 15ft tall (or even taller is ok). I was looking at italian cypress or skyrocket juniper but i'm not sure if they are fast growing or not.

We live in Central Virginia, the area we would like to plant gets full to partial sun. Need to plant 80 feet of trees, evergreen and thin diameter & fast growing is a must.

Update:

also looking at the degroots spire arborvitae since that it very tall and narrow and seems to be sold alot around here.

Italian cypress is the perfect tree for you! Cold tolerant to about 10 degrees. If you get a little colder than that you can decorate it with christmas lights so you have a decoration for the holidays, and also provide it more warmth on cold nights. I believe their is also something called the pencil cypress which is very similar to an italian cypress, only much more cold tolerant.

Also a pine called the long leaf pine is great. Cold tollerant to 0 degrees. They grow very fast and can be trained to grow very thin.

    Good luck.

For your area, Eastern White Pine trees might be looking into. Under full sun with care and watering they might grow as much as 2' per year. They do however take a bit of time to fill in with dense growth. Start with a 4-6' tree and plant about 5' apart. As the trees grow you can remove the center trees leaving a 10' spacing. Plan to spend about $50 per tree from a good local source.

I would consider the Spring Grove Arborvitae Thuja plicata 'Spring Grove'. It is a fast grower and grows 20 - 30 feet tall and 6 - 8 feet wide. A dense tree perfect for hedges, screens or windbreaks. Plus it is deer resistant!
