"Rivers Run Red” a poem. comments? critique?
We are made in his image.
That’s what they say.
From our kind hearts,
To our violent ways.
We show our love,
our passion, our hate.
We even destroy the very
Things we create.
Whether it be machine,
A home,
Or the children we name.
Even the lives we make
In search of some fame.
All left in the dust
Of the riots that rage
In the streets we called home.
And we just look away.
We wage war on our brothers.
Our rivers run red.
As our children fight our battles.
It’s their blood that is shed.
It’s their lives that are lost
Because of mistakes in the past.
It’s their lives that are lost
Because of one name heard so vast.
In gods name we “pray.”
As we wait for the day.
As we wait for our questions
To be answered.
As we wait for our answers
Too many lives are lost.
Enough waiting,
I say,
It’s all a lost cause.

one perspective, but not the only one. This would come from a fear of death ~sense of life. If writer loved his/her own life, the poem would go another direction. If you love your life, you love the freedom to love. You let others be free to live. If you fear death, on the other hand, you need control and controllers. It's a desperate position to live every day with fear. What you see, is a clear evaluation of this dynamic inside you.

The last time Americans fought their brothers in a rivers run red scenario was 1865.
You have some nice lines but this is yet another silly @ss liberal whine about how the competition of life is too rough.
Piled on the absurdity that Religion causes war.
Biology causes war friend, Religion just helps you win it.
Here's a poem you might enjoy:
Guard your women and children well,
Send These Bastards Back to Hell
We'll teach them the ways of war,
They Won't Come Here Any More
Use your shield and use your head,
Fight till Every One is Dead
Raise the flag up to the sky,
How Many of Them Can We Make Die!
