Why arab men have more than one wife...?

this mainly started when the prophet Muhammad got married to 4 different women. his objective was to unite different religion and culture through this. [his first wife was a Christian]

men who try to "follow in his footsteps" tend to marry more than one woman [4 is the limit] but that is not something that frequently happens, and if it does, its mainly for help and support [the girl's husband dies, she needs support.. etc..]

but keep this in mind, this doesn't happen all over the middle east. most arab people are actually against this idea, and the wife don't usually agree.

Why? That means housework is cut in half. Let me tell you, sand was always getting tracked into the tent or house. And getting those blood stains out of white silk without a washing machine...not an easy job. And to keep all the cutlery shiny and polished up for the next massacre, it is work. Those camels were kind of ornery too and they don't brush themselves.

The tent set up was not a one person job. Multiple hands were needed, and to fluff all the pillows and cook all those wonderful dishes like "eye of newt" or "snake ears". They had to gather(catch) these creatures off the land as well as well as gather wood(in a sandy desert) in order to make a fire. For any man-- a bunch of women is a better sight to come back to after a hard day of hacking and chopping of other men. Besides, after the fighting he needs a bath(yes the Arabs bathed daily and donned on smelly perfumes - so that they can get rid of the excess testosterone- with 20 wives, they "all" surely cannot have a headache?

Totally unlike the Christian knights(French,Spanish,Germans and English who wore the same burlap underwear for weeks(if not months) and avoided water like it was the plague.) They literally stunk. The peasants, the priests, and the king did not bathe either. So no one really stunk - they all smelled the same.

The "uncouth" Arabs (I am thinking you were thinking that way) also read books, wrote poems, spoke multi-languages, did fine art, science, and mathematics; produced excellent pottery and artistically designed weapons, and built fine architecture with bright colors and tapestries mixing in with the older cultures of China and India.

The Arabs introduced this finery to western civilization and some of it took hold. Bathing at least...and doing laundry.

The wife thing half took off. After all Henry VIII had 6 wives but they could not be together because "his imaginary friend" did not allow that, so he got around that by killing them off individually.

No their first wifes don't get angry or furious, They have to ask permission from their first wife to marry the second one, and if the first wife accepts that is only when they can marry the second wife other then that they are not allowed to marry the second wife..

Also they have to treat them Equally if they don't this will be a sin.. And its up to these people what they want to do, if their happy with it who are we to judge?

Not all women get upset because the man takes a second wife. They accept it as their culture.

I knew a man who had two wives. He was very careful to treat them and their children equally. What he does for one he did for the other, goes for their children too,

Islam allows you to marry four women.

Despite this, most Arabs have one wife, why ??

Because Four wives means four families, and Most men can not take this, lol

cause their pe*** is the only thing that is important for them

Otherwise more than two wives equals more responsibilty,and omg! is love s.th you can share to different pieces?!

Yes they do get upset and angry but there is nothing they can do about it so they learn to accept it and live with it.
