Atheists, can we at least agree...?

Atheists,

I'm a Christian, and I just want to know. Can we at least agree that ->logical<- absolutes exist? Such as the law of non-contradiction (that something cannot be A and non-A at the same time).

No, of course not. Only christians deal in absolutes.

You can't verify the law of non-contradiction without assuming the law is in fact correct, which of course is begging the question.

    There are no absolutes.

    That is an absolute truth.

BTW, the guy above me does not understand superstates of quantum mechanics. Superstates have nothing to do with absolutes. The concept of superstates is that you cannot know something unless you open the box and measure it; and that the process of measuring can change its state. So while in the box, you don't know what the state it. It could be A. It could be B. So the object is in the superstate A and B.

Not knowing the state of an object and the existence of absolutes are independent and compatible concepts.

    Absolutely (no pun intended).

However - if you're then going to try and suggest that logical absolutes require a conceiving mind to exist, I will disagree with you.

EDIT: For all those who are saying "no" and implying that other's have misunderstood - actually, it's you that have misunderstood.

Jupiter is Jupiter. This is a logical absolute. Jupiter is never not Jupiter. We can make truth statements "Jupiter is Jupiter" that require a conceiving mind, but in the absence of any thought process Jupiter is still Jupiter.

component out a "christian u . s ....?" and that i does no longer get too happy with your "christian tolerance" -- decrease than 3 hundred years in the past, putting forward your self an atheist in maximum international locations could have had you imprisoned, tortured, or carried out. you're no longer that far bumped off out of your violent previous, and the only reason it does not take place any extra is by using the fact rational human beings took political power faraway from the church homes. Peace.

there is one absolute truth, and that is the love of our lord and savior Jesus Christ.

    John 14:6

6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

You're a little vague, but are you trying to form a gang Christian/Atheist to beat up on agnostics?

    Not necessarily.

Logically that is true, but logic cannot prove itself. Things which seem self-evident but not based on anything other than common sense are often not so.

Source(s): We also do not know what goes on in other universes, which may exist. PS Not sure why so few people understood this Q..

I'll take the bait, but the term logical is somewhat contradictory to faith-based reasoning. Where there is proof, there is no need for faith.

    Ok.

Remember the internet is a place to vent hate and frustration, so if people were disagreeing with you on the internet they didn't fully mean it

    yeah.

doesn't prove a god though. in fact, if you wanted it to be any sort of argument for one, you'd have to prove that it was even possible for the universe to form without that property.
