Guinea pig has tumor, not enough money to get it removed...?
My guinea piggy MR. Kelly (he's not a girl!!!!) got a mysterious lump on his belly that seemed to have sprouted up overnight. We took him to the vet and she said it was some sort of tumor and it would be best to get it removed ASAP. We're thinking it's most likely lipoma (sorry for the spelling, not sure if that's right)-a harmless, fatty tumor common in guinea pigs, that isn't bothersome unless it gets so big they're having trouble. We can't be sure though, because, well, she doesn't have x-ray vision, she can't see inside it, and to get it removed and biopsied (again, sorry for the spelling) would be $265, and that's a SLIVER of the price the pet-insurance companies said it would cost... but we just don't even have that money right now...
any suggestions?

Just be grateful that you have insurance as i did not and it cost me a small fortune for Sally. I raided the money by having a huge yard sale, I took pictures of it and made posters and put them out with a sign that said Sally needs surgery, i raised $750.00 in one day for her.Try it it works.

Vets can do a payment plan with you all you do is just ask the vet and tell them about it and they can help work out some payment plan
OR
take your pet to a humane society vet (they can be a lot cheaper)
and I agree with Carol and SimplyLOVExox06 do a yard sale you never know you might be able to get enough money to pay the vet
BUT
there is no harm in asking the vet about doing a payment plan they can do that because they understand where the owner is coming from and the fact that they want to help their pets but the money brings them down. Talk to the vet and let them know where you are coming from you never know until you ask.

hi,how old is your guinea pig, i once had a guinea pig she was 3 1/2 yrs old,she had a bladder stone ( common in guinea pigs) i took her to a vet and she said it would cost me $1000 for the surgery,i went the medicine route and treated her in that manner.it was too late she lasted a week.guinea pigs dont take surgery that well, the anesthetic will kill her.well i hope for the best with your piggie.

Do a yard sale to raise money for it, also maybe try to get donations from your family and other people around you. That's the best advice I have to give. If you love it you will do your best to try and keep it alive.

its fine they don't necessary die from them, and if she is not in pain just leave how she is. My guinea pig has had for 5years now and he is fine never bothers him x
