Hi there. 3 weeks ago, i drank stagnant water from a plastic water tank, i started feeling sick half an hour later. and was sick with cold like symptoms for 5 days. tho it didn't feel like a normal cold i have (tho i cant explain how its different) it started with an annoying sore throat then slowly got worse to full blown cold. 2 weeks later the exact same symptoms have come up again! this has never happened where i have got a sickness then gotten exact same symptoms 2 weeks later! whats wrong?
i don't have any other symptoms eg vomiting diarrhea etc. And i was thirsty! bloody thirsty that why i drank the tank water.

The bacteria that cause water to have a stagnant taste or odour are nothing to do with having any kind of cold or flu like illness, any more than the bacteria that give fish a bad smell, can cause this type of thing, it is actually possible to eat bad fish and not get any infection since the bacteria thay cause fish to "decay" have no effect on the human body, it is unpleasant but this bacteria, have little to do with contamination, or disease, in people, but things like fecal bacteria and many others do, I suggest that you see a doctor because this recurring illness you seem to feel, may have been from another source, and you did not overcome it, with the first bout, leaving a stronger form around that you have yet to deal with, But I would also check whether your thirst was caused by dehydration because that can have an effect, in that it makes it much easier to happen next time, but if you got a cold, like most people, that was the probable cause, next time as well as it can hang around for weeks if you are below par, and if you were dehydrated then this is almost certainly the cause.....
