Injecting bleach (ie. ~5% sodium hypochlorite) directly into the blood stream.

I couldn’t find any LD50 data for humans (which isn’t surprising). One source of info I found stated that the IV TDLO (intravenous lowest published toxic dose) for hypochlorite in human males is 45 mg/kg.

My quick calculations (based on bleach with 5-6% hypochlorite) are that 45 mg of hypochlorite equates to 0.70 – 0.80 mL of bleach (depending on the concentration of hypochlorite in the particular brand of bleach).

So, for an 80 kg man, that would mean that the minimum IV dose required for toxicity is 56 – 64 mL of bleach. This volume is a lot larger than I expected! I don’t know what “toxicity” means in this instance. This volume would be lower than the LD50 value, but could still be potentially lethal.

As for the toxic effects of bleach, I imagine the toxic effects and death by IV bleach would be horrendous. It’s a chlorine compound so its toxicity lies with its ability to add chloro adducts to organic molecules (by nucleophilic addition). In other words, it disrupts the function of organic molecules (eg. nucleic acid, proteins, carbohydrates, fatty acids) by adding swapping their various side chains for chlorine atoms. If enough damage to enough organic molecules occurs, the cell dies. In sufficient quantity I guess that the bleach would degrade blood vessels and cause internal bleeding. If it’s able to cross the blood brain barrier it might cause seizures as it kills neurons. It might damage the liver which, after a certain point, is lethal.

Bleaching Injection

This is my experience of injecting bleach. I was a heroine addict. I was hurting, jonsing, fiending, itching for a fix, whatever you want to call it. Been about two days since I had any, I shot it so I was hooked trust me. I put my heroine on a spoon with about 50ccs of water (or whatever the individual units on a standard insulin needle are, cc's right? If not lets just pretend thats what they are called for the sake of explaining this story.) I was using the cap to melt it down quicker by pressing down on it, and I pushed to hard, the piece plopped out of the spoon and into a container of household, lemon scented bleach. Pure bleach. The **** that lights up an entire room with the smell if u spill a few drops, so my piece of heroine was sitting at the bottom, and 2 or 3 drops landed in the liquid that was already on the spoon. I attempted to boil it a little, to no avail the bleach was visibly floating at the top of the liquid solid white. I sucked it up into the syringe through a piece of cotton, so that it was then at about 30 cc's of heroine along with the few drops of bleach (mind u i pulled the pieceof heroine out of the bleach and sucked it up still) I then sucked water into the syringe so it was then a total of about 80/100cc's full. Injected it. No damage no side effects. I wouldn't ever do it again on purpose, but i was very sick and had a problem/disease.. So I would say it really takes a certain amount to do damage, not mention it was pretty much 12 parts water, maybe 1 part bleach. so the tiniest amount of bleach will not kill you i assume unless u are allergic or it's pure bleach. Just my experience.

Why?

Amongst the anti HIV/AIDS prevention measures is the advice to avoid sharing blood products. This includes via sharing intravenous needles during illicit drug use. Repetitious cleansing of used needles between uses by cycling bleach through them is the approved sterilisation method.

Which suggests the question...... Given in such circumstances there may be not the greatest physical co-ordination, clarity of eye or acuity of concentration, some bleach could conceivably remain unrinsed sufficiently.

In view of this remote but possible scenario, I can only conclude the toxicity quantity is far in excess of what would be encounted by this fashion. (It may give you a plot line though....)

To better answer your question... contact with drug / poisons advice centres may be useful. You might suggest that you suspect your 5 y.o. could possibly have swallowed some bleach and find out how much would be worrisome, with what symptoms. Or you could Google it...

it would slowly poison the bloodstream creating excruciating pain for approximately a week this pain would be constant get 20g of bleach and mix with 3-5 tablespoons of water inject it into the bloodstream and there you go

if injected to much, like a gallon ,u will died. but if little bet like an once u will pass out and have to go to hospital to pump out blood and have to get new blood in u body, same thing when people drink to much of alcohol, theye get blood poison. but to u knowlege , now and day that how mafia kill u, they tired u up and inject u body with alcohol...

u could take less than an half ounce mixed w/5parts water would actually do some good in a sort of scientific purification of toxins and bacterium of sorts.
