How excellent is it that the bump still lives!?

I was so impressed with Brendan Goddard's bump on Dale Thomas yesterday - but I must admit, with the state of the tribunal these days, I was worried that he might be suspended. How pleasing to see that they are taking no action over it!

Similarly, how surprising is it that Judd engaged in that behaviour!? Quite remarkable that a player of his calibre would do such a thing. Are you surprised?

Update:

Sorry - I should have written in my question to be clear - Judd got 3 weeks (2 with an early guilty plea)...

It's good to see that there's no action against those bumps. Byron Pickett knew how to take someone out with a bump ;)

Disgusting behaviour by Judd. I've never liked him because I don't like the team/s he has played for, but I always had respect for him 'cause he was a good player that worked hard and didn't get involved with the off-field problems that other players at West Coast were having. Having seen this stuff, I lost a lot of respect for him, I was shocked. He knew exactly what he was doing too, was calm and collected and just went about it like it was no problem. Not the worst thing but a week or two sounds about right, 3 is it? Even better. Make an example of him. Not happy, Judd. Disappointed muchly.

A segment I was watching last night showed the replay of Goddard, flattening Thomas, about six times - straight after each other. It looked better every time I watched & I ended up cracking up so much I nearly spilt my beer! I hope they replay it the next time he appears on the Footy Show as he drives me mad. But it was a good, hard, fair bump by Goddard & if anything had come of that incident there would have been an uproar from the public.

As to Judd - he got pinged this time. He didn't have Campbell Brown to tell lies at the tribunal for him. This time the camera didn't lie. And no, it didn't surprise me.

That's all good that the bump is still alive but..

I am seriously disgusted this is a sad day for the AFL

Judd actually tired to use a martial arts move on the field, that is revolting, one of the best and leading players in the league captain of the blues doing something like trying to find a pressure point and purposely hurt an opponent

Judd you use to be one of my favorite players your not anymore you close but your not one of my favo's anymore Judd YOU HAVE SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTED US

    that is just shocking

There are players that know how to bump, at the right time and in the right situation, without getting in trouble. Players, such as John Worsfold - who I believe is and forever will be the king of the bump. He always did it in a way, that he would never get in trouble or reported. He was the king. And by reading this, I think that Brendon Goddard may be heading in the same direction as woosha.

What's that? Dale Thomas being flattened?

Oh I would've loved to have seen that, (damn shift work!)

    Long Live the Bump!

    Re Judd...

no, I'm not surprised at all.

The bump will survive if executed properly.

Goddards bump on Thomas was a bloody ripper. He will still be feeling the effects of that perfect hip and shoulder when he lines up against the crows next weekend.

I think that's a fair suspension for Judd, I mean you cant expect to get away with those sorts of things. His intent was clearly to hurt his opponent and nothing else.

There were a few good bumps in that game. Just don't hit the head and you can hit them as hard as you want.

I think Judd has done that before.

Edit: Yeah, I just saw it on the news. Wow, that was unexpected.

  • Didn;t get to see the game - good to hear though that players have not been scared away from the bump!!

As for judd, he was just looking for a pressure point.... DO WE LOOK THAT STUPID MR JUDD????. He has done it before and gotten away with it thanks to one Campbell Brown's Alan Bond moment. I am sure he will get away with it again. No damage was done to the other player which will go in his favour.

EDIT: Sorry, didn;t realise he had been charged for it! Still may get off though if he goes to the tribunal.

No contact with the head so he was safe, I must admit up until I saw the replay I thought he may have been gone.
