Seniors I need your help!?

I'm 54 and I am experiencing a lot of charlie horses in my legs and spasms in my fingers and arms lately. I have never been on any medicine until 2 weeks ago and it was for blood pressure 25mg. I drink gatorade and eat banana's for the loss of potassium. I had plenty of water yesterday but all through the night I started having problems and this morning my fingers, hands and arms started drawing up. I'm doing o.k. right now. I did take a swim yesterday and started cramping in my leg so I got out. Any ideas? If it gets any worse I will be calling the doctor but I thought some one else may have experienced similar symptoms. Thanks to all who answers.

I understand that you recently started taking blood pressure medication, however you didn't mention if you are also taking a potassium supplement along with it. If you aren't,you probably should, especially if the medication is also a diuretic, meaning that extra fluids are being released from your body along with the potassium, a banana and gatorade probably isn't replacing enough of the potassium which is being lost, call your Doc. immediately and tell him about the problems that you're having, a loss of to much potassium is very serious and it should be taken care of immediately.

Source(s): I also take blood pressure medications along with the potassium supplements and I have no problems.

you need some blood work. are your calcium/ magnesium levels o.k? my wife had cramps in her legs. she took a magnesium supplement, and they went away. i would definitely get a blood test.
