What responsibility is Obama talking about to american kids?

I agree a good education is very important, but it also does not instill good values those come from the parents. Good grades does not take away their radical thinking.

I think your comment on "Just say no to drugs" may or may not have worked I guess we'll never know since there are no records to reflect that action.

I also do not think the speech that is being ready to be delivered will do any good, again there is no record keeping of the young peoples actions in the future.

It is very hard to understand how some people read and interpret the simplest things and turn them into something sinister. I shake my head at those who listen to something like President Obama's speech regarding education, and turn it into something negative. Why is that?

Can you tell me what is so terribly wrong in an adult trying to teach children that a good education is so important? That it will effect the rest of their lives one way or another? That by receiving a complete education they can assist in turning this world around to something better.

I find it so very sad that there are those parents who are teaching their children that there is something wrong here. Pulling their children from school, some schools not carrying the speech. Why???? What is going on here?

Is it because they are so full of fear for everything that even a speech encouraging children to educate themselves, is a threat?

What a terrible way to lives one life! What a terrible way to bring up children, to fear the positive and to take up the negative.

I wonder what that will do for the American people in the future. There is so much fear around now, by those who do not see that the quote "What you fear you shall bring unto yourself", or words to that effect.

I have proven that in my own life. If we fear something we bring it closer to us and our lives gets more fearful.

I can't believe I have to explain this yet again, but very simply put, here goes: President Obama inherited the financial meltdown because of Bush administration policies and blatant disregard for the future. It takes time to fix an eight year downward spiral, and fixing something very often costs money. Whew! Can't for the life of me understand why those simple facts are so hard for some people to grasp. He also graduated Magna *** Laude from the Harvard Law School, where he also served as President of the Harvard Law Review. Harvard Law School is ranked the best Law School in America.

Yeah, someone with those credentials definitely has no right to tell a kid to stay in school. Give me a break.

How funny that all these parents are all up in arms about what Obama tells their kids....Guess what? many, many students live in just the circumstances he described...poor, broken homes. You may love your children and teach them right from wrong but a good portion of our population is leaving it up to the schools. So a man that looks like them and had experiences like theirs tells them to stay in school and make something of their lives.......and all the naysayers run around like Chicken Little to cry "The sky is falling, the sky is falling."

My students watched it, and i asked them what they heard..They said "do your best" "failing in school hurts you, your family and your country" "Never give up"........not one said "become a socialist and give everyone health care".......

The lack logic out there is astounding...(Like the poster who said we were too stupid to ignore Obama's hidden agenda...I'm sure she meant "too stupid to see it". And "Just say no to drugs " was a republican administration brain child.....

He is our highest ranking public official and he addresses our public school children......Its how America is supposed to work.
