What bands do you consider "overrated"?
by this I mean you can even like them or be a fan, but you can't believe how hyped they are or in my case of a couple of classic rock bands, how much they are idolized. An example: I like Led Zepplin a lot, but every classic rock station I listen has the "Zep Set" when they play three songs in a row by the "Mighty Zep" or the "Legends" or "gods of rock", etc. WHY? They are good, but not THAT good.

Nirvana deffiantly. I mean they are great and I really like them but the whole Kurt Cobain suicide/murder thing made them so overrated.
Also Marilyn Manson because he was like the first big goth to go mainstream. He was the only goth on TV so every noticed him.

Led Zeppelin was overrated. Jimmy Paige was a fantastic guitair player, however Robert Plant was generally annoying at times (enough of the "baby baby.")
Nirvana was certainly an innovator of it's time; but musically they couldn't hold a candle to Alice In Chains or Soundgarden.
Green Day's become an overly-pretentious group of people right now. They went from simple punk rock to overly-artsy nonsense.
Radiohead also, they've been putting out trash since 2002. After their incredible Ok Computer, it's been downhill. "Experimentation" either works or it doesn't. In their case, it failed long ago.

I agree partly with the fact that Metallica is overrated at the moment but before they cut their hair (after the Black Album) they are overrated, however anytime before that they are still one of my favorite bands.

anything mainstream is overrated.
if you listen to a band that so many people know, then you know they are overrated.
i listen to alot of indie and only one other person i know, knows about the bands i listen to. everyone else in school is like, " The Maccabees? who are they?"
Led Zepplin is a good band, and i respect them but too many people like them.

i don't believe Zepplin is overrated, they're a milestone in rock history and deserve all the fanboys they have. As far as overrated, most bands or "rappers" that are on the radio or MTV are pretty much over rated just because they are played so much that they get attention they don't always deserve.

Yes, I agree on that one.
But I also think Fall Out Boy is totally over rated.
They make me want to punch them in the face.
Their songs just suck, I have no idea what everyone else is listening t, because apparently they think their great.
There are WAY better bands out there who deserve more lime light than Fall Out Boy does, the world just hasn't found them yet.
