I, myself, am not lesbian or bisexual but i do support people who are and think they should have the same rights as anyone else.. but i think you should go for it. you should take it slow at first but deffinitly ask her out and get to know her more..just think if you dont then you will sit there and wonder "What if.." for the rest of your life.

You have only heard she is bisexual, you do not know this for sure. So certainly date her and as you already know her well, I am sure the question of sexuality will eventually come up and you can have an open discussion about it.
