Gerbil cage cleaning and misc....?

Question

I was told by several people (and read on several sites) that you can use a very small amount of bleach with a lot of hot water to clean Gerbil cages (aquarium) every so many weeks. 

Then i find others that say DON'T. Then i find others that say use equal parts bleach and vinegar with tons of water.

Which is it? I was thinking less than a teaspoon in a gallon with a teaspoon of vinegar....

And has anyone successfully wired a "silent wheel" to the mesh on the top of an aquarium? I know people who do it with other models but i'm a bit worried that if i tried it with mine the wheel would disconnect from the base and fall on one (or both) of my gerbils.

Ok, first thing's first- you don't know anything about me and my family, so before you start calling my Mum the 'parent with the money', just think: Am I helping? Or am I just being a pain? You have no ideas what her 'legitimate concerns' are, and you're also unaware of how how many times I have tried to 'counter' her concerns. I mentioned the braces as a joke, but you've obviously took it too seriously and decided to have another moan about that. I respect the fact that cancer deserves pity- my own grandad died of cancer 4 years ago, and my Dad has arthritis in his neck. You obviously have a really short temper. I never do anything wrong, and work really hard at school, but what you're basically saying is working hard deserves nothing. Your opinions sicken me. I have already done research on dogs- don't you think I would have already done that before even thinking about asking for a dog????
Oh, and I hope 'Mutt' gives you a good spanking for putting mean comments on the computer XD
