Washing machine before spin-cycle .. any ideas what's wrong? and how to fix?
put in load of laundry into 8yo washing machine and later found it full of water, as tho waiting to drain ...
edwnc ... thank you; what you say makes a lot of sense
ps: my machine won't "spin", tho that might be a safety feature built in for when it's too heavy (I'm guessing)

repair guy just fixed it.
Problem was a broken "lid-interlock" switch.
Replace = $47 + labor = 90
Bypass = $40
I chose "bypass"

Not sure if this will help you, but I had the same problem with my old washer. it would spin, but the water wouldn't drain. I checked the bottom of the machine and found that one of the belts had come loose. Apparently this belt ran the pump that drained the water.
Check the belts on your washer, maybe the one that drives the pump came loose. Good luck!
