the philosophy is something along the lines of 'if i wouldn't want the entire world to act as i do/make the same decisions, i won't behave that way'. any idea who it is?

    Sounds like Immanuel Kant. His "Categorical Imperative" advocates that we act such that we may wish that our actions are a model followed by all.

    That's not his exact words, it's as close as I can recall.
