Tenants rights-landlord doesnt want tenants to have a chest freezer?
Our landlord is making very specific requests outside of our lease contract. We have been asked not to keep a chest freezer on the back deck, which is reasonable, but also stated she doesnt want us to have it inside.
We want to stay on good terms, but also need a chest freezer. The real kicker is that there is no reasonable way for us to get it into the house without going through her locked storage space. Only she has the key. What are the tenants rights in this situation?
4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate7 years agoPassport dilemma: Overstayed visa and need to renew passport?
I have very slightly overstayed my visa in the Schengen zone and my US passport expires in March. My thoughts were originally to go to Morocco and apply for a new passport, but after doing some research I found that one must have a passport that is valid for 6 months to enter. Mine, obviously, does not fulfill this requirement. If I apply for a new passport in Europe, I fear that my overstay will be discovered and I will be forced to either leave Europe for the US or leave the schengen zone and duck into England or Eastern Europe (which would be preferable to returning to the States). Any experience with such a situation (be it how throughly passports are inspected at the ferry terminal in Tangier, or having been in such a situation) or insight would be lovely.
Your snide comments and judgements are not required, just some honest advice please.
3 AnswersEmbassies & Consulates1 decade agovacation in china: somewhere between hangzhou and hong kong?
i'm leaving hangzhou to renew my visa in hong kong. i'd like to make a little trip out of it, but don't know where to go. i'd stay in HK but i want to get out of the city (just spent time on lantau, but maybe another island would suit my fancy). is there any place in between (mountainous or a swimmable beach) that would be nice for a visit?
2 AnswersChina1 decade agoLeaving China to renew L visa?
My visa is valid for 6 months, but I am required to leave every 60 days. Do I need to do anything with the embassy/pay a renewal fee or can I just hop in and out of Hong Kong and get on with my life?
3 AnswersChina1 decade agoWhat does penal jurisdiction mean in this context?
This trial showed once again the application of the "Colabelli Doctrine" in the Chubut province: conflicts that should have been settled in the civilian realm settled under PENAL JURISDICTION to ensure the "return" of lands to the accusing "owners" and in all cases the local landowners and multinationals. This allowed the ordering of preventive violent evictions before the ownership of the land was settled.

1 AnswerPhilosophy1 decade agoIs it reasonable to ask for a roommate change?
in college if my roommate and my personalities clash? we don't clash in the sense that we fight or get into arguments, but i find her to be extremely judgmental and whiny. she is fastidious and never has anything positive to say.
aside from that, there is no real conflict. is personal opposition reasonable cause for a room mate change?
