R&P: Ever had a musical back-handed compliment?

I have gotten this in real life I used to be a DJ in a hard rock bar (about 10 years ago) I was in my early 20s. When I first started there, the bikers and other patrons thought they could try to 'trip me up' on classic rock 'cause a young woman won't know this music. They tried and tried, and then one biker came to me when I corrected him (he felt he was pretty good with music) about a really early rock song.

He shook his head and said "That's sad." I said "What is?" He said "that you know these things." I always had prided myself with having a wide music range, but he basically suggested it was pretty sad that I got that into music and spent all my time listening to it and playing it. He was partly right, I was taking everything too seriously I had to know all the facts about the bands all the albums all the songs, song lenghts (thats a DJ thing) and album years (I don't know why I have always been obsessed with having to know album years and think them in cronological order) I did start to get out more, have more hobbies, and breathe more fresh air. I also care less for musical 'factiods' than I used to. Now I would say I am just a casual music listener with a lot left to learn and an open mind, not an obsessed woman with nothing better to do than look up musical facts. (although there are still moments!)

I dont think Ive really had that happen yet on YA! (Havent been here long enough) but I did have someone who posted a question I was the only one that answered and they gave me 2 stars and said. That wasn't what I was looking for, Thanks. and I kind of thought, well if it wasnt what you were looking for then either extend the question or don't pick it as BA! Also I wondered why he thanked me for giving him something that wwasn't what he wanted for an answer. Some people I'll never figure out.

I pay such little mind to insults, that I actually can't think of one off the top of my head, however if one comes to me in the time this question is open i will gladly share it.

I hope you blocked the jerk. You have great musical taste and a huge knowledge of music. Yes I have been complimented and insulted at the same time - I receive E-mail thanking me for an answer and then they turn around and tell me my musical taste sucks or something.

The last guy was a Beatles hater. Loved the way I answered his question but then went on to tell me how bad the Beatles were and he couldn't believe I listened to them.

BUT i did have a really good friend of mine confess that he did take some lines out of my writing and googled them because he could not believe that i write the way i write.

BQ: It wasn't a BA but the strangest answer I ever got to one of my questions, was when some guy gave a sensible answer to my question and them asked if I was wearing pantyhose?!? Where's that block button!!!!!!

they are not used to your answers which are obviously full of personal taste , that's what makes them so unique, rise above it Silver , read your answer and thought it was exactly what asked for.
