Do I keep my cross tucked in or hanging out?
I wear a stainless steel cross around my neck that my dad got for me on my 18th birthday. My mom told me I should wear it tucked in, but one day I did not have it tucked in and some people noticed and when I tried to tuck it back in they said I should keep it out.
What I want to know is, is it rude to wear my cross out in public? I personally prefer to keep it under my shirt but would the average joe find it offensive if I wore it out?
Please Note:
I am joining the Army, they will have me keep it tucked in, I am just asking for when I go out in public or am in a Business type setting.

It sounds that you wear it because of it's sentimental value and not as a fashion statement. I say tuck it unless your going to some vampire rave.

I wear mine tucked in, because it's for me, not for public comment. I don't need to hear people's remarks about it one way or the other. Also, I don't want to be judged by people who don't know me, based on the cross I wear.
People make a lot of associations based on a cross, either in a positive or negative way. There are many so-called Christian churches I would never want to be associated with. It is a symbol that means different things to different people, and again, I wear it for my own reasons and don't want to get into conversations about it with strangers who either scorn me or think I'm stupid or think I'm "one of them".

I wear my cross out everyday. Doesn't matter if I'm at work or at play. There is no reason to be ashamed of it or worry about offending anyone by it. I'm proud of my religion and am not cramming it down anyone's throat by wearing it around my neck. Just as I wouldn't be offended in the least bit by someone wearing the Star of David or any other religious medallion. Its called freedom of religion and is one of the great things about this country.

Generally tucked in, especially in a business setting. I wear mine out at church, or obviously it was out at the beach or anytime I don't have a shirt on

definitely in a business type setting it is best to keep it tucked in as when people are usually following or having different beliefs in regards to religion there seems to be the outcome of sparks between the 2 ppl....and in public its alright my mom said that too but there is nothing wrong with showing that you follow god......
jesus said that for the sake of his name you will pe put down and rejected by people even your closest people will reject you all because of his name that you follow
EDIT
i read one of the comments and they said that some people wear it for like fashion reasons...if its like that you shouldnt wear it man but reallly w.e is comforting you....
i personally dont wear a cross not caus i dont believe in god i just dont have one as a necklace but if i did i might tuck it in especially if it was gold as i dont like that kind of attention thats about it

This answer is not to offend anyone at all. I think that if it is for religious purposes and you are proud of it wear it out.
Although I have never really understood the cross wearing thing for religious people.
If one of your family members got their brains blown out would you actually wear a gun around your neck to remember them?

If you are wearing a shirt I would say under, over if wearing a T-shirt (casuals)

Personally, I wouldn't give a flying fart if wearing it out offended the average Joe.

It is entirely up to you - if you want to keep it in, keep it in. If you want to show it, then show it.
Whatever makes you comfortable, do that. If someone is offended by jewelry, they have big problems!
