Are aftermarket HID kits street legal in Hawaii?
One of my friends got a ticket for it, but they were just 4ks. So i was wondering if aftermarket kits were street legal, or was this cop out of line? Because they sell aftermarket kits at Sears, i mean seriously...

I bought mine from Race Factory in Honolulu. Before the transaction, they made me sign this paper saying that I know that it's illegal and if I got pulled over, Race Factory is not responsible for some ****. So yeah, long story short, HID's are illegal. But no one cares. You'll see a vehicle with HID's after every 4th car on the H1. I've never got pulled over for it. I've had 3 speeding tickets since I got my HID's, and not one cop asked me about 'em. Choooohoooooooo!!!!!!!!!

No. They are not legal in any state in the US. Even the boxes the kits come in say " for off road use only". HID lights are only legal on cars that came equipped with them from the factory.

dont no u can call ur dmv and find out... or look it up in the traffic laws and regs book...shud b able to look at it at ur local library....
as far as sears selling them.... there r tons of stuff sold at parts stores that rnt street legal
