What happens if you enlist to be a green beret ...and dont make it?

If you enlist under the 18X program and fail your training you become an 11B. After that, you can try for selection again at a later time when you are ready.

Enlisting 18X and becoming a WO helo pilot are two very different processes, so not sure why they would feed you that line.

However, if you fail selection, or any point up to it, you will be sent to a regular infantry unit.

First of all, getting to this level, you wouldn't need an answer, simply because at this level, you are sure of yourself that you won't fail anyway.

But, if you were to fail, you'd go cycle back into your primary MOS. Green Beret's are of Special Forces... They are elitist, which are from a broad range of MOS's, not just the infantry in general.

All Special Forces units are like this excluding the Seals, which are under justifications thereof a separate contract during the preliminary protocols before meeting the standards of passing onto the in doc, prior to BUD/s.

...And Army Rangers...which have a contract specifically designated to Rangers and the attendance of Ranger school. If you can't hack Ranger school, you're off to an infantry division other than Ranger battalions.

You go regular Infantry. Which is no shame. You can apply to try Selection again, or for helicopter pilot, once you've been Infantry for a few years/deployments.
