Will my 16-year-old daughter ever forgive me—uncomfortable talking about sex?
My daughter got her driver's license almost eight months ago, and now we hardly ever see her. My husband and I ask her to maybe stop by the house once in a while, but we've tried to recognize that she's at that age where kids spread their wings.
So even though we want to spend as much time with her as we can before she goes to college, my husband and I have been enjoying the, shall we say, "private" time.
Now, this is a little embarrassing, but after all these years we decided to act out one of our fantasies—Lord of the Rings.
Of course, just as we were, you know, on the living room floor in our elf and hobbit gear, she bursts in with a couple of her friends.
Now she's so angry she won't even speak to us. She feels weird enough that she saw us having sex, but she's more mad that her friends saw us naked with the swords and ears and oversized feet. Worse, she heard me orgasm in elvish.
She says we're freaks and that she's so embarrassed she can't show her face at school. And she says she'll never be able to watch LOTR again.
How can we explain that what we were doing is totally normal, but at the same time tell her she shouldn't be doing it?

I told him not to, but he put it on anyway, and then his was invisible (but I knew he was still there, if you know what I mean), and these gigantic leathery birds swooped down for a medieval g@ng b**g. Thank goodness they left before our daughter walked in.
p.s. They don't have LOTR in Canada? It does sound like a safe place.

Sixteen year olds can be such hypocrites! There she is sequentially deflowering the whole basketball team in the back of YOUR car and SHE gets all judgy because she catches you getting your elf freak on. You should put a web cam in the back seat of that car just to teach her a lesson! You did know about the basketball team, right?

The thing is, this question is very relevant and important. This is why kids need Sex Ed., otherwise the idea of sexual role-play will completely blindside them.
Try and explain the situation, but do not apologize. Tell her that since she has not organized a schedule for her comings and goings that you had no idea she would be showing up- and with friends no less! It's still your house, and she should ask permission before bringing friends over.
Especially if it's 'sexy time'.

Sex is for the bedroom. It shouldn't be done in public places where your children can walk in on you doing it. Lock your bedroom door or do it when the kid/kids are at school. And a 16 year old should be home all the time, not galloping off across the country to God knows where. She is a minor, she doesn't have rights until she turns 18.

I honestly think, this is by far, the COOLEST thing I've ever read on Answers (true or not). But this is the difference between having a daughter and having a son I guess. If I walked in on one of my friends parents having crazy LOTR sex, I would probably brag about the fact that I saw it to the school and my friend would be the coolest guy EVER.

If you're not just joking, put yourself in her shoes I'm sure you can understand. I promise you she will get over it.
On another note, you and your husband sound like you have fun together and thats awesome. Be happy about that, really, not everyone is lucky enough to find their compatible freak :D
She will get over it. But she may never be able to watch LOTR without bursting into laughter and/or tears lol

As soon as you want. But don't put it aside too long. Now days kids talk about everything in 5th grade. You want to male sure you let your kid know that you ate the one who should answer all their questions. You don't want some kids giving them wrong info. Be straight out and honest

Having sex with your love one is but natural but please do that in private.maybe your daughter is not that ready to see you having sex.it is awkward also on your part to have sex when there is somebody watching you.Lock the door if you want to have sex with your partner.
tell your daughter to understand you.but next time do not do it again outside of a private room.
