Can you get around Vancouver without a car?
I am visiting and want to know if a car is a necessity. I'd like to see Capilano Bridge, Shannon Falls, whistler. I figure I can navigate within the city blocks okay, but these spots seem farther. thanks!

Within the city of Vancouver, yes, you can get around very well by transit, taxi and in some cases, by foot.
The places you list are not within the city - in fact, they are a long way out and you will certainly need a car to visit these spots.
Capilano Suspension Bridge is located in the city of North Vancouver and Whistler is itself a city located out past Squamish, 2 hours north of Vancouver by car.

There is info on this site on how to get to the bridge by transit.

Yeah if you want to go and check out the bridge and shannon falls and whistler then I would suggest to rent a car or something.
I live in Vancouver for 2 year without having a car, but I lived downtown. I went for a trip to Whistler and Shannon Falls and I definitely needed a car.

i would say that you would need a car. the public transportation is good if you are just going about the city.
