How long can gold fish go without being fed?

We'll be out of town for about 48 hours and I need to figure out if I need to have someone feed them while we're gone.

Fish can go a week + without eating if they are well fed up to that point. All fish have this ability because that's how it is in the wild, they don't always catch a meal. Plus when they breed they don't go hunting so that's another reason thy are made to withstand that.

So ya don't have anyone feed them, just do a water change before you go and feed them a LITTLE BIT the day you leave and your fine. Don't make the Mistake of buying one of those vacation feeders or tossing in a bunch of food before you leave, that's a sure fire way to come back to dead fish.

Edit: A question to the first two posters, do you have any literature at all to back up your two day claim ? Because I would love to see it : )

P.S. Don't bother looking because it doesn't exsist.
