What does your religion counsel about unplanned pregnancy to the unwed?

I am researching a paper for a religious diversity class. My topic is "Religion's influence on the decision to parent vs. relinquish for adoption in cases of unplanned pregnancy." I am hoping to get a well rounded set of responses representing many different religious views. Please provide whatever background is necessary to illuminate this topic.

Update:

Mamma's Girl -- Thank you. I admire your decision, which had to be a tough one. Congratulations on the new sister!

I grew up in a predominately Catholic area. When the girls I went to high school with got pregnant they were either a. forced to marry (and have an "early" delivery) or b. go live with a distant relative and give it up for adoption.

I was raised a nondenominational Christian. When I go to church, it doesn't matter if you're married or not, babies are a gift and it's up to the mother to decide what will be best for her child. If the mom chooses adoption, the church looks for couples wanting to adopt, or works along side an agency. I've seen many successful cases. It's all a matter on the support you can receive, regardless your choice.
