Dream - the goldfish prince?

I had this recurring dream a while ago, and now I wonder what it meant. It was, and still is a great inspiration for me, in my art, and I dubbed the boy that appeared in it "The Goldifsh Prince". Here is the actual dream:

I was in a library. It was large, and full of books - on the shelves, on the floor, but surprisingly, there was a central portion with a red rug that's clear of them. There was a hall leading to a main desk on the left. I advance slowly, looking around me, and when I come up to the large golden desk, I come face to face with my old school's librarian (she was a very pleasant person I liked very much, and supported me trough the bullying I faced). We had a small chit-chat, exchanged smiles, and I went on my way.

It felt warm and cozy there. I advanced, and in another room (also of the library; with lots of books scattered) I find a little boy with black eyes and messy black hair. He was dressed in simple clothes, and he held a small sphere of water with a smaller goldfish inside. The sphere glowed ethereal, and the goldfish was almost lighting the water it was in. It swam happily in there.

The first time, he asked me to help him catch up with his fish - the sphere was rolling on the floor. I ran, and ran and ran after it, until i reached a great hall. I thought it was the hall of my High School for some reason, although it was more like something out of a palace. Then, I lost the sphere out of site, and I woke up.

The second time, he asked me to take his fish somewhere, so I did.

And the last night, he asked me to hold it. I held it with so much carefulness, but I think somewhere in the dream it disappeared.

I wonder what to do you guys think it means. Some people gave it religious connotations, as in "The Divine Great Library of Knowledge", saying it was prophetic and I was very young to have it.

Others ventured in my relationship with guys (reference to the boy), and books, and got my personality and my feelings towards each correct on the spot.

What do YOU think it is?

Your dream appears to be very much the product of a bright, creative and busy mind.

Where all the images came from only you could sort out, but they do seem to relate to studiousness with a sense of order in the midst of much eclectic knowledge. The clutter of books may be representative of diverse interests and pursuits in your life. The red carpet provides a hint of the order to come - as if part of a palace; the palace itself may be more an edifice of knowledge than real place of comfort. It is all rather noble and you find safety there in the company of this librarian whom you care for and found comfort with.

The boy is far more mysterious, but he and his ethereal sphere hold some very special meaning for you for sure. That is a thing of your own making and without more specific context it would be hard to know just where he may have come from - or where he would take you.

A fish like that holds the gaze - they float almost as if in space and are in constant motion. They generally mean 'life' or vitality. A sphere holding any sort of vision can easily bring the notion of a portal to something else hidden. The boy may represent wonder at all that may be - he does seem to be the prince of this palace. He therefore may be the personification of your own sense of wonder: your senses and your mind put before you in this image.

Why a dark eyed, dark haired boy? I cannot know for certain, but it is as if foreign and of a hidden wisdom. We can at times feel very much as if we are at the threshold of great understanding, but cannot quiet envision ourselves as grasping all that is before us; the alter-ego may be more capable of that. This mysterious boy may be that part of you that takes the ordinary 'you' by the hand and commands it to explore to find new meanings.

Perhaps some of these observations may help in your understandings as you reflect on the dream and your feelings, all in the context of your own life. You have shared a fascinating theme - perhaps you will find much more meaning there over time.

    All the best to you.
