With DirecTV you get Sirius Radio stations. Can you buy a seperate receiver and take that service on the go?
We're thinking about getting DirecTV and I was wondering if we could buy receivers to put in our cars and listen to the Sirius stations without paying an extra bill.

You could, but it's probably not practical.
The XM/Sirius channels that DTV offers are rebroadcast on one of DTV's geosyncronous satellites. You would need an "in motion" dish to maintain a signal while you're driving around. You would also have the monthly mirror charge for your extra receiver. You can get some idea about tracking dish prices from the link below.

First, DirecTV has XM, it is Dishnetwork that has Sirius.
Second, Your DirecTV/Dishnetwork access to those services is totally exclusive from mobile access to those through the respective dedicated Sirius/XM mobile satellite radio networks, including web streaming. Meaning to listen on a Sirius/XM radio or web stream, you need to separately subscribe to that.
