HP C4480 question....?

Ok, I have installed the software, all the plugs, USB cables, etc are fine. I can use it as a printer and a copier but what it won't do is scan. It comes up with an error when I try to import it through PS CS3 saying that it doesn't exist. I tried calling HP and after 37 minutes on hold, they told me that it would cost me $40 to help me. Anyone have any idea as to why this would do everything BUT scan? Thanks in advance!

Update:

That's the problem, it's not a new printer, it sat in a closet for nearly a year before I even attempted to use it...:(

This should fix your problem for you

At times HP you will get a glitch when using the printer software and you will need to uninstall and then reinstall

I recommend this procedure for that problem

Add/remove and remove all components for the printer

Now do a complete clean up with the HP level 4 driver removal utility tool

    When done, reinstall the software

If it is a new printer, then it should not cost you anything through HP. I had similar problems and called HP. They were very pleased to help me. My printer was new. They should honor 1 year of warranty and help desk. Talk to a manager.

I have seen other people with similar answers.

    Some answers included.

    1) Complete uninstall of all software loaded (printer software)

    2) Try reloading it again. Be careful to choose right options when loading it back on

    3) Some operating systems do not like certain printers. So make sure the PC is compatable with your printer.

    4) If the printer is new, you can always get a different model. I still recomend HP.
