if you don't call it a tax is it still a federal tax from our government?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_health_insurance_tax...

even if you call it a fine, it is still a tax that the IRS will collect. I don't buy the auto insurance argument. People chose to drive or not to drive. A lot of people don't drive. The only way that argument would be valid is if you required people who didn't own cars to buy auto insurance.

I don't buy the argument that it will reduce unnecessary expense from our ER. Uninsured people who go to the ER who can afford to pay must pay. The hospitals can(and regularly do) sue those who can afford to pay. They always win and they always get their money through direct payment, garnishments, liens...

Those who can't afford to pay in the ER are likely already covered by a government subsidy. The only loophole in the plan is illegal immigrants. No citizen to sue, no coverage under current federal plans. None of the proposed legislation will correct this.

People will have to pay just because they live in this country?

Update:

john "If I am drinking and driving and get pulled over isn't that a tax"

If you are drinking and driving you are being punished for your direct personal actions. You are being punished for your own personal decision. Under the current legislation you will not have to do anything. You will automatically be taxed. You can try to twist it all you want but your examples are poor at best. No right or left wing smear required.

You neglected the information rfile in this then simply by fact the pinnacle of the IRS suggested this himself. "we don't care in the event that they're criminal, or unlawful. we don't care how they made their money. Legally, or illegally as long as they pay us the taxes owed. And we are no longer below any criminal accountability to tell Immigration companies that we are accepting and taking interior the taxes the illegals document on." yet here is how i've got faith on the subject of the completed difficulty. in the event that they have ridden on the backs of different peoples SSN's, and different fake information. so some distance as i'm worried they could and could lose out on all that money taken out plus what they additionally had to pay to boot without the refunds or according to baby credit, for employing the fake information interior the 1st place. and then turning around and submitting with all the right place of work work. and those those that they used our identities could earnings it from them for the inconvenience they desperate to reason us. and you could disagree with me. yet enable me ask you this. Is that the type you will stay, and go approximately your existence?

If it is a payment required by law by our federal government it is a tax or a tarrif. Take your pick.

Auto insurance is required by the STATES. Under the Constitution the STATES and the people have all powers not forbidden the states or enumerated for the federal government. There is NO Constitutional justification for corporate welfare in the form of the federal government requiring 300 million people to buy insurance they don't want.

The STATES regulate insurance -- all the discussion about 'buying accross state lines' recognizes that. The STATES license health care providers. The federal government has no constitutional jurisdiction to do this.

john a, here the thing you are being penalized for is not paying money the federal government wants to require. Like if you don't pay your property TAX.

You are correct, I am wondering how they are going to explain the tax increase when the Bush tax cuts expire at the end of this year or next. That is not technically a tax increase since it is going back up to previous levels, but the everyone who pays income tax will have less money in their wallets.

Good try Timmy but I did do a swing like you are doing a swing. Say it again buddy but by your twist everything can be a tax. You were burned.....
