Do you believe the roll of Government is the following?

The Government is suppose to watch out for us and take care of us.

If you do believe this, why do you? and where did you learn this?

Just curious.

If we could "roll" the government instead of them rolling us that would be a good thing.

Seriously, the role of government is to stay out of our lives as much as possible. And do that at the every least rate of taxation.

The government in this country is supposed to represent "We the People." We are supposed to be taking care of ourselves.

    Some examples...

We have the right to bear arms to form a militia to defend ourselves (which implies to me, that the National Guard is more in line with what the framers wanted... as opposed to a standing army which could be used aggressively. I think they'd be opposed to a standing army).

The tea-party itself was a protest in itself against the East India Tea Company which was the largest corporation of it's day. I think the founding fathers wanted us to be looking out for each other, defending this nation against tyranny and the power of the wealthy, and wealthy aristocrats. Unfortunate how far from this we've gotten... especially since Reagan.

The government should protect our rights and keep us safe from any person, country, or corporation that wants to do us harm. A good government helps people who cannot help themselves (disabled) and educates the populace.

The government is US. We are the government. The role of the government is whatever we want it to be.

Taxes are our contribution, a pooling of resources.

NO, the roll of the government is to govern, to protect our borders to ensure protection from outside forces but it is not "to take care of us", that is an individuals responsibility.
