how often do you actually need to take this knob off? just put a thin coat of wood glue on the screw and put the knob back on. Don't touch it for a day and it should hold just fine for years.

If it doesn't have a threaded metal insert and the screw just goes into the wood, you can slip the end of a toothpick into the hole, break the end off, and then tighten it. The extra wood in the hole will compress and hold the screw in better.

If it does have a metal insert, either the screw or the threads in the insert are stripped. If it's the screw, replace it. If it's the knob, get a new knob or use a slightly bigger screw.

I, just had this happen to me, the knob on dresser--kept coming off in my hand, after i screwed it in. What I did was find another screw in many we have kept over the yrs., cause it sounds like ur's is "Stripped " maybe on the end of it/where it doesn't grasp the knob/and hold it tight. If you have problem's finding the size you need, take it to ur nearest Hardware store, (the screw) and the knob--and ask them to find you one just a shave bigger to match the knob--and then even though it may go in--a little bit harder, then the present one, it'll hold/and ur problem , will be solved. Good luck, hope I helped, and God Bless. Thankx, Victorianlady359
