I hate to break it to you, but fleas live in the backyard, too. Even if your neighbors didn't have dogs, you'd probably still have the fleas, especially if there are any other mammals around - stray cats, raccoons, squirrels, mice, etc.

We had a horrendous problem with fleas last year. So this past spring we treated our yard by putting down nematodes to eat the flea larvae. They came on a little sponge that we had to soak in water and then spray the water all over the yard. then we also got an insect growth inhibitor to spray on all the farbic surfaces in the house. It worked! We have three cats and a dog in the house (and the dog goes out into the yard as well as being in the house) and have seen hardly a flea all season.

This is what we used outside:

The only way I can suggest is not pleasant, but all the droppings will have to be removed, and if the dogs keep returning, you will have to do this on a frequent basis.

Is there any way you can deter the dogs? Maybe speak to the owners and see if they can confine their animals.

Try using some Rotenone Pyrethrins by Spray-N-Grow for your yard. It will kill fleas, ticks, etc. and it is natural so it is safe to use around your plants and family.

I use 5% sevin dust. Just sprinkle it around your yard. You can find it at any garden supply store , Wal Mart etc.
