I want to upload CDs onto my laptop...how much memory do I need?
I got my laptop a little over a month ago. It's a Compaq. I really want to upload most of my CD music on here so that I can just listen to it whenever. How much memory will all those music files take up? How do I know how much memory is already taken up, how much I have left, and how much I need? Please help.
Thanks :)
I want to upload like 15 CDs.
Okay, so under the C drive thing it says I have 83.8 GB free out of 138...what does this mean for me?

You mean hard drive space.
On the desktop, click computer, then look at the C:\ drive. It will show how many gb are used and whats left.
Example:
Mines says 81.1 gb free of 184 gb so i've used about 100gb of space. This is with 7845 songs and everything else including programs and 1000's of pictures.

first up its storage you need not memory
open my computer or just computer
right click on your hard drive and click properties that should then show you the size how much is used and how much is left.
without knowing how much music you want on there i can't say how much space you need but say 5 - 10 gb

A CD is about 700Mb of disk space.
However if you rip the CD to .mp3 format which is what you want to do (google for programs to do that) then they will take up about 48Mb
