Algebra Homework Question!!! -2(4x-7)?

-2(4x-7) would be

-2*4x= -8x

-2*(-7)= 14

so your answer would be -8x+14

if you want to solve the rest of it...it would be ...

-8x+14 = -8x+14

now you could stop here cause it does equal to each other but if you want to know what x equals to then

-8x+14 = -8x+14

-8x+8x=14-14

x=0

-8x+14=-2(4x-7)

-8x+14=-8x+14

0=0

answer is 0 because the 8x's cancel out so does the 14s

-2 x -7 = 14 so it's -8x+14

Think about it this way:

2 x 3 = 6

-2 x 3 = -6, then

-2 x -3 = 6 again

a negative times a negative = a positive.

-8x+14.

two negatives (-2 times -7) make a positive.

- 8x + 14

-8x+14

well if your question is what do do with -2(4x-7), i think it goes like this

-2(4x-7)= -6x+7

so its -8x-14= -6x+7

and thats

-8+6x=14+7

so thats

2x=21

-8x+14

heres a way i learned the negative multiplying thing.

love = positive (+)

hate = negative(-)

if you LOVE to LOVE (positive times positive) you LOVE (equals postive)

if you HATE to LOVE (- x +) you HATE= (-)

if you LOVE to HATE (+ x -) you HATE= (-)

if you HATE to HATE (- x -) you LOVE= (+)

-8x+14

because two negatives multiplied together become positive.
