Mini Net Book: 10 to 12 inch screen. Not full featured, no CD/DVD drive, small screen causes eye strain and more.
Note Book:12 to 14 inch screen.
Lap top: 14 to 18 inch screen.
Buy it with Windows XP or the new Windows 7 operating system.

A laptop is larger than a notebook. A netbook is just for the internet. You don't load it with a bunch of other software. I believe there is limited software that comes with them... but it is not for much other than the net. Vista is a personal choice... and personally, I am not happy with it. Windows 7 will be out soon and many computers that you buy now will come with a free upgrade. Of course... that is a gamble too. I have Vista... and have had it for a year. It is not terrible or anything... there are just some glitches that Microsoft never fixed. Good luck.

There no much difference between laptops and notebooks. They are meant for same specifications.
But netbooks are mini notebooks category of small, light and inexpensive laptop computers suited for general computing and accessing web-based applications.
If your laptop is high configuration ie if ur RAM is more than 2gb or 3gb go for vista. If it is only 2gb go for XP.

Pretty much the same thing. And do not get vista. It is very slow and annoying. I have a mac and love it, but macs can be expensive, so I would get a windows xp.

hmmm. well they are all the same thing, but people don't seem to like vista. windows 7 will come out (or has it already?) and maybe you should wait for tht.
i personally think vista is fine but it is all on personal preference.
