Can your doctor tell if you have lost your mucus plug?

I have read that if you loose your mucus plug before you are 36 wks to call your doc right away, can they tell if you have lost it??

I am 30 wks, will be 31 monday and I MAY have lost my mucus plug.

Update:

I go in tuesday for an apt, I can just mention it then. right?

Yea they can tell by doing a pelvic exam. I would call and tell them that you think you may have lost it, they will probably have you come in and get checked out to be safe. It can grow back, but better safe than sorry.

A friend of mine just had her baby, and she lost her plug. She actually noticed it when going to the bathroom. Yes you can tell your doctor, you should at least mention it. Nothing to worry about. But let your doctor know. :) Best of luck and congrats!
