Being Harrassed by someone with 2 convictions already.?

3 times now an ex friend of mine has tried unsuccessfully to harass me about my decision to end our friendship. So far I have been lucky and avoided him. Twice at my home and now once at work. This person has 2 convictions one for assault and one for harassment He has not been given a custodial sentence either time. Whilst I understand that he has not broken British law in regards to his attempts to harass me, my concern is that last time he did and the person refused to back down he assaulted them. He will catch up with me eventually. Do you think I should tell the police about what has been happening. Or will they not be interested, should I wait till he has either threatened me or worse. Thanks for having the patience to read my rather long question.

Update:

This person has twice been to my block of flats. The first time I was away, the second time he called up on the intercom I told him that if he did not go I would call the police. He left straight away. Then last Friday he walked into the reception at my work. I was there with a security guard. I told him to go away and he did. My concern is that eventually my luck will run out and he will corner me when no one else is around. Last time this happened he assaulted the person in there own home. This has been going on for over 2 years now and I have done nothing to discourage his attempts. I have not attempted to make any contact with him so he must know I am not interested in anything he has to say. I just wondered if the police would be willing to have a word with him before thing get out of hand. He does have after all alreadyhave a convition for harasment. And as they say Leopards never change there spots. Prevention is better than cure as they say.

I would need to know what has occurred on the 3 times he has attempted to contact you in order to give a proper opinion/advise.

    Can he read your mind?

Contact the police and if they are not helpful inform the police ombudsman.

You should ABSOLUTELY tell the police about this man harassing you, especially as he is known to them as a troublemaker.

If you don't tell....will you ever feel safe? Why do people allow this man so much control and power over them that they cant' report it.
