Emotional turmoil over hubby getting THE SNIP?

Question

My husband is going to have a vasectomy in the New Year (it takes a few months to get in for the procedure). He's very willing to have the minor surgery as we have three beautiful kids already. Trouble is, I'm having a hard time with it. I would like to have another child but know that he's finished. But it's more than that though. I don't want this part of my life to be over. I guess it's just a reminder that my reproductive years and one part of what defines me as femine, is over. I thought men were the only ones who experienced this kind of thing at the thought of a vasectomy... feeling like they're losing their manhood. Any ladies go through this? How did you get around it?

FYI The vasectomy is HIS choice. I placed no pressure on him to have the procedure done. THINK BEFORE YOU COMMENT!

Take comfort in knowing that the snip is reversal.  It's not permanent so if you both ever change your mind about having another little one, then you can do that.  :)  But I seriously know how you feel.  I actually have a savings account for when I go through menopause, because I know I will go insane, and I am only 29-years-old.  I have that same thing going on with feeling like I am defined as a women by being reproductive.

i was talking to my adoptive mom like at the begining of september and we were taking about why my adoptive dad wanted to adopt me so bad and she said after they had their 3rd child they wanted more kids eventually but they couldnt handle it at the time so HE decided to get a vasectomy. he didnt plan on ever getting a reversal so when he found out i was being abused he took the oppertunity to adopt me and now i guess they are happy becuase they both always wanted four kids and now i am their 4th, point is you may never have another child yourself but there are tons of kids like me that need loving families so why not give them the chance they deserve too, bacause most kids that went through what i did for whatever reason, it wasnt our faults at all

i promise this will blow over and if its his decision then let him do it cause hes apparently planning to be with you forever otherwise he wouldnt make a commitment like that
