Where is the outrage?

Opening a government meeting on auto safety, the Obama administration reported Wednesday that nearly 6,000 people were killed and a half-million injured last year in vehicle crashes connected to driver distraction. That's more people than since the start of the Iraq war. Come on liberals. Where's the outrage? Where's the movement to outlaw cars and cell phones? Or is this all part of the vast right wing conspiracy?

Kind of a silly way to make a point, but yeah, they do sort of cherry pick their outrage. I recall a study a couple of years back that proved that an American was FAR more likely to be killed in Washington, DC than in Iraq at any point during the war. I often wondered when congress was going to surrender the city and retreat into Virginia.

Most states have outlawed hand held cell phone use while driving. You want to outlaw CARS? How will millions of people get to their jobs? Horse and buggy?

And you site that Obama's Administration reported it. So doesn't that show concern on the part of Obama's Administration? Where is the Conservative outrage?

OHG, texting is their right, and you can't interfere with the rights of the left. Not to mention all those killed by boozing. We must outlaw all those devices, including phones, to be used while driving. And as some countries already do, we must outlaw driving to and from bars. My idea is that liquor could only be sold at bars so if some goon decides he needs another beer run at midnight, he has to take a taxi. It would be an economic boon for taverns and taxi companies so this law would have a good chance of passing.

we're working on outlawing the use of cell phones in cars now, thank you very much.

i'm a biker. if i had a dollar for every time in the last year that i've narrowly escaped being T-boned in an intersection by some idiot running the red light WHILE TEXTING ON HIS PHONE i could buy myself a brand new motorcycle.

it takes time for laws to catch up with technology.

another thing you don't realize in your zeal to criticize liberals... automobiles serve a useful purpose in society... unlike the war in iraq.

They don't need to ban cars, but they are looking at making driving while texting and hand held cell phones illegal - I think that's a GREAT idea!
