How dumb is Michael Crabtree?
Does he or his agent know that if they don't sign with the 49ers this year, they're going to get a considerably smaller offer next season by whoever drafts him. His only hope is to get traded which can't happen now until March. If he does re-enter the draft I'd be surprised if he breaks the top 20 especially with all the talented QBs coming out and already talk of at least 2 WR better than him who will probably be in the draft.

According to ESPN's Todd McShay, there are going to be some decent WRs better than Crabtree- and without the problems. On top of that, if the NFL DOES investigate the tampering, and gets wind that more than just the Jets talked to him, heads could roll- especially during next years draft. The teams that don't draft him would either have a top-notch #1 WR, or don't want someone of his character. The one(s) that does (or tries to) draft him, especially in a top 10 situation, would expose themselves.
What would he do if he got drafted by another team he didn't like, or wouldn't offer him more than what his draft slot gave him? Would he sit out ANOTHER year?

I think that he is pretty dumb. Why hold out on a run oriented team? He has never played a down of NFL football. Who do he think that he is hurting? If he has never played then they have no reason to miss him. If I were the 49ers, I would go back and offer him less. I do not see any team drafting him near as high, or for near the money, if he goes back into the draft next year. I would offer him less and tell him to take it, or go into the draft and receive probably half of what I had offered from another team.

Michael is not dumb, he took a few chances that didn't pan out. If anyone recalls, he was hyped at one time as the #1 pick overall before he decided to have surgery and not be able to participate at the combine. Its a slap in the face that the Raiders took Darius Heyward-Bey before Michael. Want to talk about dumb, let's talk about Al Davis. By the way, Heyward-Bey has 1 reception after 3 games - LMAO! Then again let's not pick on Al, it may be the dementia. If Michael runs between 4.4 and 4.5, then has the surgery, he goes top 5 or 6. Best logic is for Michael to push the same financial package the #9 pick got and try to re-negotiate by year 3 if he performs as promised. If he does sit it out, he will win on his own principal but not at the bank.

It's not too smart of him to holdout an entire season, BUT he's NOT dumb. Believe me when I tell you if he waits till next year he WILL go in the 1st round. There are no better receivers than him in next years draft. NONE. and the only reason he's holding out now is because i guarantee you he's talking to more than just the jets about next year. Their has to be more than 1 team telling him if you hold out we'll draft you and pay you what you want. The only thing that could throw a wrench in his plans is the proposed "rookie salary cap" which stops players from receiving huge contracts before playing any football in the NFL.
It's sad to see a player who has not played a single down in the NFl think he's worth more than someone who has.

Yeah he pretty much screwed himself.. He played his cards, but the 49ers called his bluff!! His only choice now is to play with the 49ers this year and hope that he can get some good money.. Or maybe this fool is holding out because he does not want to play with the 49ers and he is willing to sit out a year to join another team?? Who knows, but the bottom line is that he is not getting better as a football player sitting at home on the couch!!!

Huge mistake in Crabtree's part. He should sign with the 9'ers and play this year. He's not going to be in the top 10 next year for sure. You just can't go a year and not play competitive football and be in the same level as the rookies playing now. Just look what happened to Mike Williams.

He will probably sign just before the deadline so that he gets credit for a year of service. But based on the situation now, that is all-time dumb.
Even if he were hurt, if he signed, he would STILL be paid now and simply be on the PUP list. As it is, he will be the next Mike Williams. Remember that wide receiver is the position at which skills can be lost fastest.

He's an idiot. No question about it. But most of them are and 1/2 of the agents out there are too. The guys using his god given talents to get him and his family out pf poverty as a pawn. It will cost him...
